How to Change the Batteries in the Davis Vantage Vue Weather Station

How to Change the Batteries in the Davis Vantage Vue Weather Station

Most weather stations use batteries for primary or backup power. The Davis Vantage Vue is no exception. Replace the batteries in your Davis Vantage Vue indoor console and outdoor sensor suite every 6-24 months, depending on how much you use your device. This will ensure your weather station operates efficiently with the minimum disruption to data collection.

Generally, your weather station will alert you if your station’s battery is running low. However, if at any time you start to notice strange or inconsistent readings, an excellent first troubleshooting step is to replace the batteries.

The indoor console of the Davis Vantage Vue can operate using battery power, mains power, or a combination of both (to protect against power outages). The outdoor sensor suite runs off a solar panel with battery backup.

  1. (0:29) Flip the console over and unclip the rear battery cover.
  2. (0:35) Remove the spent batteries and dispose of these correctly.
  3. (0:44) Insert three new C-Cell batteries while ensuring the correct polarity.
  4. (1:02) Once inserted correctly, all the LCD elements will light up on the console.
  5. (1:15) Press and hold ‘DONE’ to enter straight into the main screen.
  6. (1:23) Once you are satisfied that the batteries are working correctly, reinstall the rear battery cover by clicking into place.

The battery replacement in your weather station console is now complete.

Outdoor Sensor Suite

The outdoor sensor suite takes a single lithium 3V CR123 battery.
