No, it’s not a typo.
Our last newsletter featured 10-must have pieces of lab equipment. This week we present a host of devices that verify that your lab equipment is working correctly and validate consistency.
Read on to discover our featured lab devices that ensure the performance of other crucial lab equipment.
Temperature Data Loggers for Fridges and Freezers
Do your laboratory fridge or freezer store sensitive or valuable specimens or goods? A fridge temperature logger is a critical tool to help ensure temperatures remain within a safe range.
The CleverLogger Starter Kit is ideal for monitoring a single fridge in a laboratory, pharmacy, or medical centre. It sits inside your fridge and records temperatures at user-set intervals. Every couple of minutes, your collected data automatically transmits to a gateway for uploading to the internet.
You can set up automatic reports and email/mobile alerts via the CleverLogger platform.
Specifications
Temperature Range: -20°C to 60°C Accuracy: ±0.5°C

UVC Light Meters
Verifying the dose or intensity of UVC light emitted from UV lamps is critical to validate whether a device is working correctly and whether sterilisation or decontamination is sufficient. Further, UVC light meters can detect UVC leakage from other lab equipment.
The IC-850010 UV meter measures and simultaneously displays the current UVC reading [in microwatt (uW) or milliwatt/square centimetre (mW/cm2)], and minimum, maximum, and average recorded data. This instrument can automatically record up to 20 data points at various intervals when measuring larger areas.
Specifications
Wavelength: 220 to 275 nM Calibration Point: 254 nM UV Range: 1 uW/square centimeter to 40.00 mW/square centimeter Resolution: 1 uW and 0.01 mW/square centimeter Accuracy: ±4% ±1 digit (at 23 ± 5°C).

Autoclave Validation Data Loggers
Validation ensures your autoclave is working correctly, which means adequately sterilising other lab equipment.
The IC-AVS system is a complete solution for autoclave validations. The configuration includes two HiTemp140 temperature loggers, one PR140 pressure logger, an IFC400 interface package and standard software that all combines to determine autoclave performance – i.e., whether your autoclave is maintaining the correct temperature and pressure throughout a cycle.

Temperature Meters
Before using block heaters, warming plates, cold plates, incubators, or anything for keeping samples at a specific temperature, you need a temperature meter to validate that your equipment is performing reliably. Even if your lab equipment has a temperature display – it is good practice to validate it using a calibrated temperature meter before use.
The CENTER 521 exploits Bluetooth Wireless Technology to monitor wirelessly or transfer logged data to computers or mobile devices. It supports K, J, E, T, N, R, S types of thermocouple probes. The included K type probe measures temperatures from -200 to 1370°C.
Specifications
Range: K type: -200°C to 1370°C Accuracy: ±0.1% +0.7°C Resolution: 0.1°C

Stopwatches & Timers
Many laboratory procedures require precision time measurements. An inaccurate or faulty timer can negatively affect time-sensitive materials or processes.
The IC-810015 digital timer features four independent channels, each of which counts up or down for any interval from 1 second to 100 hours. A clock button lets you view the current time. A large display indicates what channels are in use, and each channel has a distinctive 1-minute alarm. The timer automatically displays the time elapsed after the countdown reaches zero.
