About Davis Instruments EnviroMonitor

The EnviroMonitor by Davis Instruments is a site-specific, smart, robust, adaptable, and affordable system for monitoring environmental conditions at agricultural sites - like vineyards, farms, and greenhouses – over broad acres, and within man-made growing structures.

Each system comprises a customisable network of sensors, nodes, a weather station, and a cloud gateway controlled with Davis Instruments' intuitive software. An EnviroMonitor allows you to respond precisely to changing microclimate weather and environmental conditions.

Read on and discover how you can increase crop yields using an EnviroMonitor system's superior data.

Key Features and Benefits

1. Comprehensive Data at Your Fingertips

The EnviroMonitor provides easy access to all the environmental data that matters most to agri-managers. Over time, access to precise, current, hyperlocal data will support strategies to increase yields and lower input costs.

2. Alerts

Be informed of upcoming adverse weather events and avoid crop damage by setting up custom text or email alerts that trigger when unfavourable conditions threaten.

3. Data Sharing

The EnviroMonitor makes it easy to share collected weather and environmental information with your field managers and other team members.

EnviroMonitor Applications

1. Crop Farming

Monitoring soil moisture is crucial for economical and adequate irrigation. The EnviroMonitor soil moisture sensors help managers determine when and where to irrigate - and how much. Immediate access to precise weather data helps track Growing Degree Days (GGDs) to predict crop and insect development with assurance.

2. Vineyards

The EnviroMonitor is easy to set up with alarms to warn you of frost or irrigation threats.

3. Greenhouses

The EnviroMonitor system can precisely measure and report temperature and humidity inside multiple greenhouse locations. You can manipulate and interrogate your captured data:

    1. for a more comprehensive assessment of conditions; and
    2. to optimise resource allocation.

An Overview of the EnviroMonitor System

What we refer to as the EnviroMonitor system comprises hardware, sensors and data.

You set up any version of an Enviromontor system following the same straightforward sequence:

Step 1 - Hardware: Choose your hardware - select between a Cellular or WIFI/Ethernet gateway and choose the number of nodes you require.

Step 2 - Sensors: Select a Weather Station Sensor Suite.

Step 3 - Sensors: Expand your system with additional sensors, as required. The EnviroMonitor System seamlessly hosts sensors by Davis Instruments plus a wide range of other third-party sensors.

Step 4 - Data: Setup and view your data - your data is accessible through a mobile application, web browser or both.

Step 5 - Optimise: Design and tweak your smart environmental management information system to help you make best-practice decisions.

System Details

1. Hardware

EnviroMonitor offers a choice of gateways to upload data to the WeatherLink Cloud. This process happens securely after the capture of data by sensors and collection at system nodes. Upload options include Cellular Connectivity, WIFI or Ethernet.

System nodes have the following characteristics and benefits:

Function:

Nodes collect, process, buffer and transmit critical weather data from sensors over a self-optimising mesh network to an EnviroMonitor's Gateway. They constantly communicate to create a complete network coverage.

Scientist's Tip - Position your system's nodes to overcome physical barriers and distances. This step will ensure the data integrity you need to manage your agricultural site more efficiently.

Field Operation:

Each node is solar-powered, self-contained and weather-resistant – built for reliability.

System Capacity:

  • EnviroMonitor systems are modular in design.
  • Each EnviroMonitor network gateway can host up to 32 Nodes.
  • Connect up to four sensors per node.
