Your Guide To Instrument Choice’s Davis Vantage Vue Kits

The Davis Vantage Vue is one of the world's most popular weather stations. Boasting an impressive range of features, the Vantage Vue is of excellent quality, value-for-money, and suited to both home and professional applications.

To take the burden out of finding the ideal setup for your application, our scientists have assembled a complete guide to the Vantage Vue Kits available at Instrument Choice detailing the kit inclusions and how you can access your weather data.

About Davis Instruments

Having been in the weather monitoring equipment game for over 50 years, Davis knows a thing or two about the design and manufacture of superior performance and quality weather monitoring equipment. Davis’s reputation for the manufacture of durable, precise and accurate weather stations is second to none, and the Vantage Vue is no exception.

About The Davis Vantage Vue Sensor Suite

The Vantage Vue is the “base” model of the Davis range and is excellent for both in-home and professional applications but don’t be fooled – the Vantage Vue is anything but basic.

All kits stem from the Davis Vantage Vue outdoor sensor suite. The outdoor sensor suite measures ten key weather parameters, including;

1. Temperature
2. Humidity
3. Barometric Pressure
4. Rainfall
5. Rain Rate

6. Heat Index
7. Dew Point
8. Wind Speed
9. Wind Chill
10. Wind Direction

The sleek and rugged station thrives in the harsh Australian climate, is easy to install, and the small profile minimises the visual impact on your yard or roof, making it the perfect home weather station.

Features of the Davis Vantage Vue’s outdoor sensor suite:

  1. Wind Cups: Records wind speeds as low as 3km/h and has been wind tunnel tested to speeds of up to 290km/h.

  2. Temperature and relative humidity sensors covered by radiation shield: The radiation shield protects from solar and other radiated or reflected sources of heat to increase accuracy. The sensors measure temperature from -40°c to 65°c and relative humidity from 1 to 100%.

  3. Wind Vane: Measures wind direction and displays on the console in degrees or compass points.

  4. Rain Funnel: Funnels rain into the tipping spoon system below. The funnel includes a debris screen to stop foreign objects from entering the spoon system.

  5. Solar Panel: The built-in solar panel helps to reduce battery consumption.

  6. Rain tipping spoon system: The self-emptying tipping spoon system measures rain in 0.2mm increments.

  7. Transmitter: Transmits wirelessly up to 300m line of sight every 2.5 seconds (Typically 100-120m through obstructions).

  8. Weatherproof housing: The rugged housing is assembled from tough UV resistant ABS and ASA plastic.

  9. Battery operated: Lithium battery provides backup power when needed—providing up to 8 months without sunlight and up to two years depending on solar charging.

  10. Easy assembly: Wind cups, wind vane, and the tipping spoon mechanism are straightforward to assemble.

  11. Kit for mounting: Quick and easy install with included hardware. (Note: the pole is not included.) It can be mounted on poles 2.54cm to 4.45cm in diameter. The mounting pole can be purchased here.

  12. Bubble level: The built-in bubble level allows for more accurate installation and better data collection.
