The SNiP-10HS is a 'Sensor Node Integrated Package' for LoRa, LoRaWAN or FSK or communication of real-time soil moisture measurement for continuous soil monitoring.

The base SNiP-10HS integrates 1x AD-NODE and 1x METER Group 10HS Soil Moisture Sensor to a site's unique network, communication and power requirements.

AD-NODE: For High Resolution Analogue and Digital Sensors

The AD-NODE is designed for those requiring precision in their analogue and digital measurements. With a 24-bit ADC, the AD-NODE supports two RTDs, a 0 to 10V with compressing range and a 4 to 20mA input. Each of the four dry-contact digital inputs is capable of simultaneously sampling at 1 kHz, with periodic reporting. Settings on the device can be altered remotely via LoRaWAN or locally via USB. Features include:

Decagon 10HS Moisture Sensor

Measures the dielectric constant of the soil in order to find its volumetric water content (VWC)

The 10HS is used to measure volumetric moisture content of soils and other material for scientific research and agricultural applications. It measures volumetric water content via the dielectric constant of the soil using capacitance technology. The sensor uses a 70 MHz frequency, which minimises salinity and textural effects, making it an ideal sensor in agricultural and standard scientific projects.

- Accuracy (Apparent Dielectric Permittivity (ea)): +/- 0.5 from (?a) of 2 to 10, +/- 2.5 from (?a) of 10 to 50 (VWC)
- Accuracy: (Soil volumetric water content): Using standard calibration equation: +/- 0.05 m3/m3 (+/- 5% VWC) typical in mineral soils. Using soil site specific calibration, +/- 0.02 m3/m3 (+/- 2% VWC)
- Resolution (ea): 0.1 from ea of 1 to 30, 0.2 from (ea) of 30 to 50
- Resolution (VWC): 0.0008 m3/m3 (0.08% VWC) in mineral soils from 0 to 0.50 m3/m3 (0-50% VWC)
- Time: 10 ms (milliseconds)
- Power requirements: 3VDC at 12mA to 15 VDC at 15 mA. On board voltage regulator allows 10HS sensor to be used with any excitation voltage above 3V
