Integrated soil moisture monitoring station that measures real-time soil moisture and temperature measurements, for continuous soil monitoring. Includes: 1 x TEROS-12 Sensor, S-NODE with LoRaWAN communications, 6.5Ah rechargeable li-ion battery, 10W Solar Panel and SPLM7 mounting system for node and solar panel.

The SNiP-TER2 is a 'Sensor Node Integrated Package' for LoRa, LoRaWAN, FSK or Cat-M1 communication of real-time soil moisture, temperature and electrical conductivity measurements for continuous soil monitoring.

Optional features include GNSS to record device location for spatially enabled data.

S-NODE

The S-NODE has been designed to support the broad suite of SDI-12 based environmental sensors. The S-NODE can support sensors with higher power requirements; a solar panel can charge either the internal lithium-ion battery or both the node and sensor can be powered by an external 12V system (e.g. battery or mains source). The S-Node's SDI-12 communications can be customised to allow for interfacing with any SDI-12 sensor.

Ranges:

- Mineral soil calibration: 0.00 to 0.62 m3/m3
- Soilless media calibration: 0.0 to 1.0 m3/m3
- Apparent dielectric permittivity (ea): 1 (air) to 80 (water)
- Resolution: 0.001 m3/m3
- Dielectric measurement frequency: 70 MHz

Accuracy:

- Generic calibration: +/- 0.03 m3/m3 (+/- 3.00% VWC) typical in mineral soils that have solution EC less than 8 dS/m
- Medium specific calibration: +/- 0.01 to 0.02 m3/m3 (+/- 1 to 2% VWC) in any porous medium
- Apparent dielectric permittivity (ea): 1 to 40 (soil range) , +/- 1 ea (unitless) 40 to 80, 15% of measurement

NOTE: The VWC range is dependent on the media the sensor is calibrated to. A custom calibration will accommodate the necessary ranges for most substrates.

Temperature:

- Range: -40 to 60 C
- Resolution: 0.1 C
- Accuracy: +/- 1 C from ?40 to 0 C; +/- 0.5 C from 0 to +60 C

NOTE: Temperature measurement, for applicable sensors, may not be accurate if sensor is not fully immersed in the medium of interest, due to longer equilibration time.

Communication specifications:

- Temperature: Operating range: ?40 to 60 C
- Data logger compatibility: METER data loggers (ZL6, EM50/60 series) or any data acquisition systems capable of switched 3.0 to 15 VDC excitation and single-ended voltage measurement at greater than or equal to 12-bit resolution.
