Detailed Technical Comparison: Wile Handheld Grain Moisture Meters

Detailed Technical Comparison: Wile Handheld Grain Moisture Meters

Produced by the Finnish company Farmcomp under its brand “Wile”,  the Wile series of handheld grain and seed moisture meters are highly regarded for accuracy, ease of use, and portability. These attributes have made Wile instruments amongst the most popular grain and seed moisture assessment tools on the market.

Wile handheld grain moisture meters include three design variations. So you can select the best device for your application, our scientists have put together a comparative guide to clarify the difference between the Wile 55, Wile-65 and Wile-78 models.

About Farmcomp

Farmcomp OY started its business in 1938 and has become an established supplier of agro-electric equipment.

About Wile Moisture Meters

Wile moisture meters have been produced since 1964. Since then, portable Wile meters have been a reliable aid to farmers in measuring the moisture of grain and later also other materials.

Farmcomp is an innovator and regularly expands its Wile meter range. Presently, Wile devices can measure moisture content in materials such as:

  • Grains
  • Seeds
  • Hay
  • Silage
  • Sawdust
  • Wood chips
  • Peat
  • Cotton
  • Coffee; and
  • Cocoa.

Introducing the Wile Handheld Grain and Seed Moisture Meters

Wile-55 Grain and Seed Moisture Meter Product code: Wile-55

The Wile-55 is an entry-level whole grain and seed moisture measuring device ideal for rapid moisture measurements in the field.

Product code: Wile-65

The Wile 65 measures the moisture and temperature of grain and seeds rapidly and precisely. The intuitive menu-driven display makes it particularly easy to use.

Add the Wile 651L Temperature probe (optional) to perform temperature measurements on a wider range of materials (in addition to measuring moisture content).

Grain Moisture Meter - "The Crusher"
Product code: IC-WILE-78

The 2-in-1 Wile-78 crushes and measures a variety of seeds and grains.  The crushing function provides the option to analyse the moisture content of kernels or seeds beneath the kernel surface.

The crushing feature is useful when:

  1. The thickness of the shell differs depending on the species and the growth conditions; and
  2. Measuring high-moisture grain that has dried too quickly and may still contain moisture hidden in kernel centres.
