Everything You Need to Know About Laser Egg Air Quality Monitors
About Kaiterra
Kaiterra’s mission is to build innovative environmental monitoring devices that incorporate intelligent software analytics to empower households and businesses worldwide to transform their built environment for the better.
Introducing the Laser Egg Series
Kaiterra’s series of “Laser Egg” indoor air quality sensors are primarily designed to reveal the real state of indoor air quality, both current and historical, whether at home or work.
These accurate, powerful, yet easy-to-use devices will allow you to view your indoor air quality data on a device with an extra-large LCD screen (like a Laser Egg) or Kaiterra’s “Live Air” mobile application.
Live Air by Kaiterra - Your Global Air Quality App
Using Live Air, you can:

Figure 2 Hyperlocal outdoor |
- View your Laser Egg’s Data: Pair your Laser Egg and track changes in your indoor air quality and, most importantly, receive alerts when you’re “on the go.” (See Figure 1)
- View your historical data: Access and share all your Laser Egg’s recorded air quality information using the easy-to-navigate Live Air app.
- Receive personalised and actionable health recommendations: Your Live Air app contains expert tips to guide you so you can lower your exposure to any potentially dangerous health hazards!
Bonus app data:
Live Air lets you view real-time, hyperlocal, local and international current, historical, and forecast outdoor air quality data.
You can browse the Live Air quality map to find street-level air pollution information in more than 3.9 million searchable locations covering every corner of the globe – including your street!
So what? Well, as you may know, outside air quality impacts indoor air quality. With the Live Air app, you can consider the effect of local outdoor air quality on how you manage your indoor environment. In other ways, accessing outside international data can provide you with air quality benchmarks, influence your travel arrangements, and even help you support overseas family and friends.
Live Air outdoor air quality data includes; AQI, PM2.5, PM10, Ozone, NO2, SO2, and CO, together with 6-hour and 5-day forecasts, plus historical data - up to 30 days. (See Figure 2)
What Do Laser Eggs Measure Indoors?
Laser Egg indoor air quality sensors are accurate, affordable and look great. These instruments monitor the five key indoor air quality parameters.
All Laser Egg sensors |
Temperature |
Temperature profoundly affects the comfort and quality of indoor air. |
Humidity |
When humidity is too high, you sweat more, mould and mildew flourish – it’s unsightly, damaging and unhealthy. When humidity is too low, we dehydrate more easily, plus eyes and skin become irritated. |
|
PM2.5 |
Particulate matter refers to microscopic solid or liquid matter suspended in the air, such as fine dust or smog. Particulate matter is often abbreviated as 'PM' and the particulate matter size as 'PM10' and 'PM2.5.'. High levels of PM2.5 are known to cause nasty cardiovascular and respiratory diseases and cancers.
Sources of particulate matter include;
|
|
LE-201 only |
TVOC |
Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOC) refers to the sum of an entire pool of pollutants. TVOC's are chemicals emitted from solids or liquids as gases, and concentrations are usually significantly higher indoors. Signs or symptoms associated with exposure to VOCs include headache, nose and throat discomfort, skin reactions, allergies, fatigue, dizziness and more.
Examples of VOC emitting products include;
|
LE-201 only |
CO2 |
Carbon dioxide is prevalent in the Earth's atmosphere, and all aerobic organisms produce it as a byproduct of respiration. High indoor CO2 levels can indicate inadequate air ventilation relative to indoor occupant density and metabolic activity. High indoor CO2 levels will cause you to feel drowsy, sluggish and may trigger headaches. |
