Materials

You will need;

pH Buffer Set Selection

  1. Press SETUP to enter into the settings menu.
  2. Use the arrow keys until “pH buff” appears on the screen. Press ENTER/HOLD to enter into pH buffer settings.
  3. Use the up and down keys to choose between the following buffer sets:
    1. USA (1.68, 4.01, 7.00, 10.01, 12.45)
    2. NIST (1.68, 4.01, 6.86, 9.18, 12.45)
    3. DIN (1.09, 3.06, 4.65, 6.79, 9.23, 12.75);
    4. MAN (Manual adjustment of any custom pH values that are ≥1 pH unit apart).
  4. Press ENTER to confirm your selection. For this example, we calibrate the unit to pH 4.01 and pH 7.00. So the USA buffer set is selected.
  5. The device will automatically move onto the next pH calibration setup option – i.e., selecting the number of calibration points. We recommend calibrating to a minimum of two points. Use the UP and DOWN arrows to move between the available options.
  6. Press ENTER to confirm your selection.
  7. Press BACK to exit setup mode and return to measurement mode.

pH Calibration

  1. Ensure the device is in pH measurement mode. If not press the MODE button until pH appears on the screen.
  2. Press CAL to enter into calibration mode. On this screen, the top line will show the requested buffer solution. Note: If it is blinking between several different solutions, select pH 7 for your first buffer or the mid-point.
  3. Rinse in water then submerge the pH electrode into the requested buffer solution.
  4. Wait for the reading to stabilise. A stable reading is indicated by “READY” being displayed on the LCD.
  5. Once “READY” is displayed press ENTER.
  6. The LCD will display “DONE”. The first point of calibration is complete.
  7. Rinse the electrode in water and move onto the next buffer solution. Submerge in the next solution.
  8. Wait for the reading to stabilise.
  9. When “READY” is displayed, press ENTER to confirm the calibration.
  10. After calibration of the set amount of buffers is complete, the unit will automatically return to measurement mode.
  11. Your pH calibration is complete. Rinse the electrode in water before taking a pH measurement.

Conductivity Calibration

  1. Press MODE until the unit is in conductivity measurement mode. If not press the MODE button until you are in conductivity measurement mode.
  2. Rinse the conductivity probe in water then submerge into the calibration solution.
  3. Press CAL.
  4. The unit automatically recognises the buffer and will display it on the top of the LCD. The current measured value displays on the second line.
  5. Wait for the reading to stabilise. You will know this has occurred when “READY” displays on the LCD.
  6. Press ENTER to accept and complete the calibration.
  7. The unit will automatically return to measurement mode. Conductivity calibration is complete.
  8. Rinse the electrode in water before taking a conductivity measurement.

Conclusion

Calibration of pH and conductivity on the Eutech Waterproof PC 450 Meter is a straightforward task and is essential for accurate and repeatable pH and conductivity measurements.
