How to Calibrate the IC-pH610B Bluetooth pH/Temperature Tester

The IC-pH610B is a Bluetooth enabled pH and temperature tester designed for everyday use. Regular calibration is essential to make certain your pH meter’s measurements are accurate and reliable. A handy feature of the Jenco app is the way it reports the last calibration date and electrode efficiency , to let you know exactly when calibration is required.

Materials and Devices You’ll Need:

  1. IC-pH610B Bluetooth pH/Temperature Tester
  2. pH buffer solution (for this demonstration, we calibrate with pH 7.00 and pH 4.01)
  3. Distilled water for rinsing; and
  4. A mobile phone or tablet.

Method

Calibration Note: The Jenco IC-pH610B pH reader can calibrate up to three points, which you can select from the user settings. These are either 4.00, 6.86, and 9.18 or 4.01, 7.00, and 10.01.For better accuracy, the Instrument Choice Scientists recommend performing a minimum of two-points of calibration.
  1. Enter the calibration mode by pressing ‘Calibrate’ on the bottom of the app screen.
  2. Press ‘Calibrate’ again on the centre of the screen.
  3. Place the electrode into the pH 7 buffer solution. Ensure the electrode is completely immersed in the solution, then press start.
  4. Wait as the meter calibrates to pH 7.
  5. The app will confirm when the first point of calibration is complete. Next, you can select to continue and calibrate to a second pH point or save and exit. As we are performing a two-point calibration, we will need to press ‘Continue’ to move to the next solution.
  6. Rinse in the distilled water and move onto the next solution.
  7. Press continue.
  8. The meter will automatically recognise whether you are calibrating to pH 4.01 or ph 10.01.
  9. Wait as the meter calibrates.
  10. The app will confirm when the second point of calibration is complete. From this point, you can continue and calibrate the third remaining point or save and exit.
  11. Rinse off the buffer solution residue in distilled water before use.
  12. When the calibration is complete and saved, updated information will appear on the measurement screen, including;
    1. Days since the last calibration
    2. Electrode efficiency percentage, and
    3. The accuracy indicator

Conclusion

TheIC-pH610B Bluetooth pH/Temperature tester is straightforward to use and calibrate. The pH reader and associated application are incredibly simple to navigate, making this an ideal solution for everyday use.
