How to Connect the IC0370 Wireless Weather Station to WIFI and Weather Underground

Before connecting to WIFI, your weather station and the indoor console should be set up and communicating with each other.

Connecting to WIFI

  1. Download the WS View Plus app. The app is available on Google Play and the Apple Store.
  2. Once installed, select the icon of the IC0370 Wireless Weather Station's indoor console. Then press 'Next.'
  3. For WIFI connection, it is essential to plug your console into mains power via the included AC adaptor, and the WIFI and 'M-B' icons need to be flashing on the console's screen. If not, press and hold the 'WIND' and 'PRESSURE' buttons for five seconds. After the unit is operating on mains power, and the required symbols are flashing, press 'Next.'
  4. Press' SCAN' to find your SSID (WIFI Network Name) and enter your password. Note: If you own a dual-band router (2.4GHz and 5.0 GHz), make sure you connect to the 2.4 GHz band. Otherwise, your connection will fail. Press' Next'
  5. Wait while the station connects to WIFI. If you receive an error notification like the image below, click 'To Connect' and connect your mobile to the requested WIFI, return to the app and retry.
  6. Once the connection is successful, the app will open up on the first of several external weather sharing set up options. Press' Next' to move between the options.
  7. You will find an option to upload to Ecowitt, Weather Underground, Weathercloud, Weather Observations Website, and a customised option. After browsing these, you end up on the device list. Here you can see your station's name, IP, and media access control (MAC) address. Pressing MENU shows several configuration and setup options. For the Weather Underground setup, we will only need to use Device List, WU Dashboard, and Manage Wunderground.

Connecting to Weather Underground

  1. Navigate to the weather underground.com uploading page by clicking on the device name and pressing next.
  2. If you already have a station ID and key, simply enter it. If you don't have an ID and key, press 'Register at Wunderground.com.' This step will take you to the registration page. You can perform the registration on your mobile or a PC by going to the Weather Underground website.
  3. If you have a login, enter your username and password. If you don't, click 'sign up' and follow the prompts.
  4. When signed in navigate to 'My Profile' then 'My Devices'
  5. Click 'Add New Device'
  6. Select device type: For the IC0370, select 'other' then Press 'Next.'
  7. Enter your device location. You can find it on the map or enter an address. Press 'Next'.
  8. On this page, you can:
    1. Name your device.
    2. Enter an elevation: this is usually prefilled based on the entered address. If not, you can find this information through google maps.
    3. Device hardware: This has already been selected in the previous step but can be adjusted if required.
    4. Optional Settings: Fill out the station height above ground, surface type, or connect a webcam.
  9. Once filled out, read and accept the privacy terms, then press 'Next.'
  10. After pressing next, a Station ID and Key generates. These are the codes to be entered into the WS View Plus app.
  11. Enter the newly generated station ID and station key into the app. Double-check that they are correct.
  12. Scroll through the remainder of the menu by pressing 'Next.'
  13. Go to 'Menu' then select 'Manage Wunderground.'
  14. Pressing 'stations' will take you to where all the weather station data will appear. You will now see the station ID and key appear.
  15. Under 'my devices,' the weather station with the designated name and location will appear. The information from the station may not yet be available.
  16. On your PC or mobile, go to the 'My Devices' on WeatherUnderground. The status will be 'OFFLINE.' Give the station some time to connect. For the video example, we left the station for 30-minutes.
  17. After some time has passed, refresh the device page on Weather Underground. The weather station status will change to 'ONLINE.' The device has successfully connected to WeatherUnderground. If the station does not connect, see the Instrument Choice TIP below for some troubleshooting hacks.
  18. If the data has not appeared for your station yet appears online on Weather Underground, refresh the page by clicking back to the Weather Underground dashboard and reselecting your station.
  19. Now, you will see the current date and time, as well as all your current weather parameter information. Below the current weather information, you should observe a trend graph for each weather parameter. If you do, your set up to Weather Underground is complete!

IC TROUBLESHOOTING TIP: A common issue found when setting up Weather Underground is confusion between 'O' and '0' (zero) and 'I' and '1' (one) with the station ID and key. If your weather station fails to connect, after waiting a sufficient amount of time, try first to adjust these digits in the WS View Plus app (Step 11) if this does not solve the issue, recreate a new station ID and key.

Conclusion

Following the steps above will connect your IC0370 to WIFI and WeatherUnderground.Doing so will allow you to share your hyperlocal weather data and access it from your phone or PC anywhere, at any time.
