How to Setup the IC-12215 Certified Alarm Fridge-Freezer Thermometer

How to Setup the IC-12215 Certified Alarm Fridge-Freezer Thermometer

The IC-12215 Certified Alarm Fridge-Freezer Thermometer is a precise, dual-channel digital thermometer. On the end of a 3-metre long cable, encased in a propylene glycol solution, is the external sensor. The sensor is encased in this solution to protect against rapid temperature fluctuations caused by frequent refrigerator or freezer door openings. This accurate, certified thermometer is suitable for use for pharmaceutical monitoring as well as in restaurant kitchens, food manufacturing, and processing.

Figure 1 Watch an Instrument Choice demonstrate how to set up the IC-12215 Certified Alarm Fridge-Freezer Thermometer here.

How to Setup the IC-12215 Certified Alarm Fridge-Freezer Thermometer

Temperature Unit Selection

  1. To start, select a temperature display unit between Celsius and Fahrenheit. To toggle between the two, press the red button on the back of the thermometer

    Minimum and Maximum Recording

  2. Pressing the MIN/MAX button one time displays the maximum measured reading, a second press displays the minimum measured reading, and a third press returns to the current measurement.
  3. To reset the minimum and maximum recorded measurements, press and hold down the MIN/MAX button until all the digits appear on the LCD.

    Alarm Setup

  4. The LCD screen displays which sensor the temperature measurement is from; INT is the sensor within the display unit, and EXT is the cabled sensor. To switch between the two sensors, press the INT/EXT button at any time. This unit will allow you to set up alarms for the external sensor. To do so, toggle to the external sensor.
  5. To enter the alarm setup, press and hold the alarm button (button with the bell icon). AL, HIGH, and EXT will all appear on the LCD screen. These LCD segments indicate high alarm setup mode.
  6. To adjust the alarm temperature, press the red C/F button on the back of the unit. Each press increases the temperature by 1°C at a time. Pressing and holding the button speeds up the selection.
  7. Once the high alarm temperature is selected, press the alarm button again to confirm.
  8. AL, LOW, and EXT will appear on the screen. These LCD segments indicate low alarm setup mode.
  9. Repeat the same and press the C/F button to toggle through the units until you reach your desired low alarm temperature.
  10. Press the alarm button to confirm and return to measurement mode. AL will now appear on the screen signalling alarms are on.
  11. When recorded temperature values from the external sensor exceed or drop below the set limit, the alarm will sound and repeat every few seconds. Press the alarm button to stop the alarm sound and also turn off the alarm function. To restart the alarm, press the alarm button again.

    Setup for Measurement

  12. The thermometer is ready for set up. Position the digital screen with the internal sensor outside the fridge, and the external sensor inside the fridge-freezer.

IC Fridge-Freezer Thermometer Placement Tip: Depending on your fridge's cooling mechanism and design, there will be cooler and warmer areas within the unit. Typically, the warmest areas within a fridge are the doors and the top shelf. The back wall and bottom shelves are cooler. To get an accurate representation of the internal average temperature of your refrigerator, we recommend you to take measurements just below the top shelf, in the middle or closer to the door. If your fridge's temperature is reading a couple of degrees warmer than it should be, you may need to reduce the temperature. If it's significantly cooler, you may want to increase it.

Conclusion

Straightforward to set up and use, the IC-12215 Fridge-freezer thermometer is ideal for pharmaceutical and food storing applications. For more information on this fridge-freezer thermometer, see the additional links (below) or contact us!
