Your Guide To Types Of Humidity Measuring Tools
Humidity measuring tools come in all shapes and sizes and employ different methods for calculating, displaying and storing humidity measurements. To help narrow your search for the right humidity measuring tool, our scientists have sorted Instrument Choice’s extensive range of humidity meters into six subgroups catalogued by their defining features.

1. Alarm Humidity Meters
Alarm humidity meters feature an alarm function that activates when humidity is higher or lower than your preset limits.
Product example:
bun Hygro X Temperature and Humidity Record Alarm System
Product code: IC-bun-Hygro-X
The IC-bun-HYGRO-X is an all-in-one WIFI, cloud-based temperature and relative humidity (RH) recorder, data logger and alarm system. You adjust all settings and alarms through the intuitive web-based platform. Users choose to have alarms sent via text or email.

2. Ambient Humidity Meters
Ambient humidity meters are desk or wall mounted meters designed to measure the humidity of the surrounding environment and display at-a-glance results on an LCD.
Thermometer & Hygrometer with Jumbo Display
Product code: IC7312
The IC7312 is one of Instrument Choice’s top-rated humidity measuring tools. It monitors the humidity and temperature of the surrounding air and simultaneously displays results on the extra-large LCD. For convenient reviewing, this meter retains the highest and lowest recorded temperature and humidity level information.

3. Analog Hygrometers
Analog Hygrometers measure and report ambient humidity levels – without the need for batteries.
Mason's Hygrometer Red Liquid
Product code: IC736740
The IC736740 measures ambient humidity using a traditional method - by keeping one bulb of the thermometer constantly wet and the other dry. Users obtain accurate humidity information by comparing the two readings on the included reference chart. The Red Liquid Mason's Hygrometer uses a safe and easy-to-read red liquid in place of the usual mercury.

4. Dew Point Meters
Dew point meters measure and display the dew point temperature along with a measured relative humidity percentage.
Pocket Humidity Meter With Temperature and Dew point
Product code: HT-305
The HT-305 is a humidity, temperature and dew point meter in one pocket-sized and portable device. This sensor features a fast measurement response time, high measurement accuracy, automatic temperature compensation, and records minimum and maximum levels for later recall.

5. Humidity Loggers
Humidity loggers constantly monitor and retain collected humidity information for later review. Some have LCD screens to view current information at a glance; others are strict data logging devices.
USB Humidity Data Logger with Dew Point & Temperature
Product code: EL-USB-2
The EL-USB-2 USB Humidity Data Logger measures and stores up to 16,382 relative humidity and 16,382 temperature readings on the onboard memory. The data logger is complete with a long-life lithium battery, which typically logs data for up to 12 months. Relative humidity, temperature and dew point data can then be graphed, printed and exported to other applications for further analysis.

6. Psychrometers
Like analogue hygrometers, psychrometers do not require batteries for precise humidity measurements. Unlike analogue hygrometers, you must apply some ‘grunt’ when measuring humidity using a psychrometer.
Psychrometers feature a wet and dry bulb which you whirl together in the air to accelerate to rapidly evaporate moisture from the wet bulb, causing the temperature to decrease. You record the dry bulb temperature and the known depression of the wet bulb, then use a psychrometric chart to determine relative humidity. Readings are performed in a few minutes.

Sling Psychrometer -5 to 50 Celsius
Product code: IC736700
The IC736700 Sling Psychrometer is low-cost, portable, and a cinch to use. Users can perform worry-free humidity measurements anywhere and without the need for batteries. The unit includes everything required to take measurements indoors and outdoors, including a psychrometric chart and a water reservoir.
Conclusion
With so many humidity measuring tools available, finding the best for your needs can be challenging. Our scientists prepared this guide to help you find the best for your application and budget.
